2001 - A murit chitaristul american John Lee Hooker (n.12.08.1917).





John Lee Hooker (8/douăzeci şi doi/1917-06/21/2001) a fost un cantaret american de blues, compozitor şi chitarist, născut lângă Clarksdale, Mississippi . El a dezvoltat un " blues vorbesc stil ", care a fost marca sa. Deşi similar cu începutul Delta blues, muzica lui a fost metrically liber. John Lee Hooker ar putea fi spus ca întruchipeaza său genul sau unic de blues, care încorporează adesea boogie-woogie stil pian si un ritm de conducere în poruncitor şi idiosincratic blues lui chitară şi canto. Cele mai cunoscute melodii:" Boogie Chillen "(1948) şi" Boom Boom "(1962).

Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991

Inducted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame in 2007.

Best Traditional Blues Recording, 1990 for I'm in the Mood (with Bonnie Raitt)

Best Traditional Blues Recording, 1998 for Don't Look Back

Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals, 1998, "Don't Look Back" (with Van Morrison)

Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000

Two of his songs, "Boogie Chillen" and "Boom Boom" were named to the list of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. "Boogie Chillen" was included as one of the Songs of the Century.
